When winter covers Indianapolis in fresh snow, it’s the perfect chance to bundle up, grab a sled, and get outside. The city is filled with hills that offer everything from gentle family fun to fast rides that make you feel like a kid again. Here are some of the best sledding spots around Indy to enjoy this snowy season.

Northside & Hamilton County Sledding Spots

Great hills for families, big climbs, and all-day winter fun.

1.Flat Fork Creek Park

This 60-acre features tons of wide-open spaces to run through the snow, PLUS a 60-foot, ADA-compliant sledding hill!

2.Koteewi run

Slide 700 feet down groomed lanes in a snow tube to a soft landing, and then ride the tow line back to the top for another run. Kotweewi Run is central Indiana’s only groomed snow tubing hill

3.fort harrison state park

The only Indianapolis/Lawrence-based state park is located at 59th and Post Road and includes a massive sledding hill with plenty of space for everyone. $7/car state park admission fee required.

4.Southeastway park

A short drive off of I-74 tucked away in the rural outskirts of Indy rests King Hill. A large mound backed up against a dense tree line makes for a narrow hill top that necessitates a lot of excuse-me’s and thank-you’s as you scoot along to your launch point.

This spot feels like it was truly made for sledding. Climb the big heap of earth from any side of the mound to arrive at 360 degrees of sledding free for all!

6. freedom park

Freedom Park has a large sledding hill to accommodate a good sized crowd. Visitors will use stairs to climb up the hill. A blacktop trail leads around the bottom and sides of the hill but it is very slippery when it’s icy out.

A big spot for sledding, we’re told that the parking lot is close enough to the sledding hill that it’s easy to jump in the car, warm up, then head back out for more sledding!
